One Ground is a social enterprise founded by Ray and Dave, who are no strangers to tackling challenges — both on the field and in the community.
Now, they’re taking on Australia’s toughest social issues with the same passion and determination.
Where it started.
Ray and David worked together to deliver mental health programs to First Nations Australians across Queensland regions.
In 2024, they combine forces to establish ONE GROUND with a very mission:
to create one ground for all Australians to thrive and access pathways to find their true purpose.
Meet our founder
RAY thompson
I’m Ray Thompson, co-owner and facilitator at One Ground.
As a former professional Rugby League player with over 100 NRL games for the North Queensland Cowboys, and a representative of both the Papua New Guinea Kumuls and the Indigenous All Stars, my career on the field has deeply shaped who I am off the field.
After retiring in 2017 due to persistent knee injuries, I discovered a passion for community work. I now dedicate myself to delivering and facilitating programs that help individuals and groups reach their full potential. Drawing on my experiences working with organisations such as NRL, NQ Cowboys, QPS, ADF and many regional schools, I use the power of storytelling to equip participants with strategies to enhance their wellbeing.
My driving motivation is helping people become the best versions of themselves. I have a deep commitment to working with and empowering Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people, guiding them to connect with their purpose and developing individual agency.
